• with the right muscle tension,
• sit independently,
• can give the aids independently,
• act in the right way,
• be self-aware,
• be aware of the horses movements, 
• have good coördination,

• be aware of good breathing,
• correct leg position,

For years I’ve been training my students from the back of the horses, with the necessary consequences for these great compensators. I let the riders do exercises from the ground, but most of it had to be trained from the horse’s back.

Luckily, there is a different solution now: Joker!

Joker is the mechanical horse that teaches the rider to sit perfectly in balance on their own horse

It’s great power is that it brings you back to the basis of feeling and consciousness. The horse knows the walk, trot and canter… Provided his rider knows the right movements!

Because the springs do not provide a stable “back” like that of a real horse, Joker does not compensate for uneven weight distribution or an off-centered position like a real horse does.

The rider must take responsibility for his or her own balance. The energy of the movement is initiated by the rider and this provides immediate feedback: If the movements do not feel like on a real horse, then the rider is not moving in a way that the horse is not disturbed!

Joker was developed by Kerry Sharp, a WOW saddle fitter. In his work he comes across many riders who are asymmetrical or who have an inefficient seat and balance. Even the most accurate saddle measurement cannot compensate for these problems …

… nor can the horse without the risk of potential injuries and asymmetric muscle development.
